Sonia Alvis
Director
My name is Sonia, and I am an aspiring director with an interest in producing as well. I am a recent film school graduate, and I’ve directed one short film and produced two others. I’ve always been interested in and familiar with editing, but during my sophomore year of college, I took a directing class and fell in love with directing. I also became interested in producing after working as Production Office Coordinator for my university’s TV show pilot titled, Peace Baby.
I have written, directed, and produced my own short film titled, "Written Potential," which is a coming-of-age film that follows a little girl as she grows up and realizes her life hasn’t turned out the way she thought it would. Along with producing my own film, I’ve produced another short film titled, "Drifting." I’ve also worked on a few other short films as on set sound BTS stills photographer. Even though directing is my passion, I just love being on set, no matter what position I’m filling.

My goal as a director is to tell coming-of-age stories that will empower young women.
Personally, I gravitate towards films with a similar theme, and I think those stories need
to be told. I want to help elevate those stories and put my own creative touch on them.
